Thought Leadership – Ideas That Travel
The test of research is whether it moves beyond the room it was made in. Mine has traveled to federal agencies, across the wealth management profession, and even to Italy.
Requested by the GAO. On the strength of my published research on Generation Z and retirement, the U.S. Government Accountability Office sought me out to consult on the design of a national survey of retirement preparedness.
Cited in congressional testimony. My research on the workplace retirement savings gap was presented to the U.S. Department of Labor's ERISA Council.
Recognized by the profession. My industry paper on applying behavioral science to family governance received the 2023 Investment & Wealth Institute Governance Insight Award.
Published across two worlds. Eighteen peer-reviewed journal articles in psychological science — and Northern Trust's first quantitative study of UHNW families' financial outlook, under review at the Journal of Family and Economic Issues — alongside industry papers and white papers written for the practitioners who use them.
Invited to the rooms where practice is shaped. Workshops and roundtables for the UHNW Institute, Purposeful Planning Institute, CFA Society Nevada, and senior wealth professionals on integrating behavioral science into complex client engagements.
Featured in national and international media. My research on Generation Z and retirement was covered by CNBC, Women's Wear Daily, Financial Advisor, and Wall Street Italia, and I appeared on Morningstar's advisor podcast discussing behavioral finance in wealth management.
I also write a recurring column on the psychology of financial life — from bridging communication across generations to helping families discuss the topics they avoid most.
